How to achieve firm and wrinkle-free skin with the right application

A firm, wrinkle-free complexion – who wouldn’t want that? But what is the best way to get rid of those unloved little wrinkles? Regular sauna sessions can counteract the formation of wrinkles. The sweat bath not only strengthens the immune system, but is also good for beauty. Read here about the causes of wrinkles and what to do about them.

When we do not take in enough fluid

With age, the fluid content in the skin tissue decreases and wrinkles appear. However, there are other causes of wrinkles besides age. One of these is weak connective tissue. Connective tissue holds skin and muscles in place. Unfortunately, it becomes weaker with age. The skin cells are less well supplied with blood and therefore receive fewer nutrients. Wrinkles begin to form.

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption support this process of skin aging. Smokers’ skin generally has a poorer blood supply. Nicotine is therefore not only bad for the lungs, but also for the skin’s appearance. Alcohol is also poison for the skin’s appearance. It hinders collagen production and has a dehydrating effect. However, healthy skin needs sufficient fluids.

Speaking of fluids, most people are chronically dehydrated. A lack of water promotes skin aging. When there is a lack of fluid, our largest organ is less well supplied with blood and hardly supplied with nutrients. Anyone suffering from skin dryness can assume a lack of water.

What effects do sugar and sunbeds have on the skin?

Sugar and white flour are not only a danger for the slim line, but also for skin health. Sugar deposits on collagen fibers, which then slacken. Sugar also causes inflammation in the body. Inflammatory processes are harmful to all organs.

Too frequent visits to the solarium – just like too extensive sunbathing – also damage the skin cells. People who are frequently exposed to strong sunlight have this written all over their faces. Their age is often overestimated. UV radiation is to blame for premature skin aging.

How can we avoid wrinkles caused by sleeping position, facial expressions and stress?

Bad news for all those who sleep on their stomach or on their side: In such a sleeping position, the face “wrinkles”. Back sleepers are better off. Repeated facial expressions also leave their mark over time. As a child, you may have heard your parents say when you grimaced: “Stop it, you’ll get it”. Unfortunately, they weren’t all that wrong.

And of course, chronic stress must not go unmentioned in this topic either. Many people have stress written all over their faces. When we are under stress, the body primarily supplies the brain. As a result, the skin misses out and is undersupplied with vitamins and proteins. In fact, psyche and skin health are closely linked.

Environmental pollution is also stress for the body and causes us to age prematurely. In countries with high levels of air pollution, people tend to develop more wrinkles. So what specifically can you do to keep your face and body wrinkle-free for a long time to come? Quite a lot. For example, go to the sauna regularly.

How can you support the effect of regular sauna sessions for skin care and to combat cellulite?

A regular sweat bath in the sauna makes the facial skin more beautiful and firmer. This may come as a surprise to many. Some hesitate to go to the sauna if they have pronounced cellulite. But just then you should try the sauna session.

First, sweating in the sauna thoroughly cleanses the skin. Old skin cells are loosened. The extreme temperature differences in the sauna exercise the blood vessels; heat dilates the blood vessels, cold contracts them again. Blood circulation is improved. The removal of harmful substances is stimulated. The cleansed skin pores can then better absorb and better store moisture.

But what about the much hated cellulite? The reason for cellulite is a weakness of the connective tissue. Combine massages into your sauna sessions. This can be done with the bare hand or with a massage glove. In this way, the tissue is supplied with more blood and strengthened. So saunas can actually help against wrinkles and cellulite. Why not give sauna a try? What can you do to support the effect of regular sauna sessions and keep yourself young?

How can you prevent and treat wrinkles? Here are ten tips!

1. Drink plenty of water

Provide your body with enough water. Drinking water is perhaps the most important point when it comes to skin health. Drink enough, depending on your body size 1.5 to about 3 liters, during sauna sessions accordingly more. Besides pure water, fruit juice spritzers and unsweetened herbal teas are suitable. Avoid coffee and alcoholic beverages, as they have a dehydrating effect.

2. Get enough sleep

Sufficient sleep helps the whole body to regenerate. This is due to so-called growth hormones that are released at night. Sufficient sleep benefits the facial skin, making it look firmer and fresher. Especially the restful deep sleep phases are essential for skin health.

3. Sun protection

Excessive UV radiation promotes the formation of wrinkles. In the summer months, avoid intense sunlight during the midday hours. If spending time in the blazing sun cannot be avoided, wear sunscreen: sunscreen with a high sun protection factor, wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, etc.

4. Brush massage

They are popular, especially in the USA: brush massages. They clean the face down to the deepest pores and massage it at the same time. Dead skin flakes can be removed effectively with it. Simply stroke each part of the face a few times with a small natural hairbrush. Brush massages are offered in many steam baths. After the brush massage, apply a rich moisturizer or a good skin oil.

5. Balanced diet

Reduce your sugar intake and provide yourself with healthy nutrients. Skin needs vitamins A, C and E and minerals like selenium, as well as enough protein. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Avocado is especially valuable. In addition to vitamins, it contains many healthy fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids, which are so essential for the body, can be found in flaxseed, flax oil, walnuts and fish such as tuna or salmon. Lycopene in tomatoes helps with cell renewal. Also, please be sure to eat a diet as low in sugar as possible.

6. Vitamin C

Because it is so important, it should be mentioned separately here again. Vitamin C is the anti-aging agent par excellence. It protects against the harmful effects of too much sun exposure. Vitamin C protects against free radicals. In particular, incorporate foods rich in vitamin C into your diet. The vitamin is found in oranges and many other fruits, as well as vegetables such as broccoli and kale. Rarer foods like rose hips and acerola cherries also contain oodles of vitamin C.

7. A relaxing bath

For many, the bathtub is a wonderful place to relax. You can get nourishing, natural bath additives at the pharmacy. In terms of skin health, the bath water should not be too hot. If the temperature rises above 35 degrees Celsius, it dries out the skin.

8. Beautiful facial expression

As briefly mentioned above, facial expressions play an important role in the development of wrinkles. Some people constantly raise their eyebrows without being aware of it. As a result, deeper and deeper frowns show up. Pay conscious attention to your facial expressions. Relax your facial muscles as often as you can.

9. Exercise

Endurance sports such as running or swimming help against cellulite and skin sagging. Exercise stimulates circulation and blood flow. Thus, it helps us stay wrinkle-free for longer.

10. Facial gymnastics

May sound funny at first, but it is serious. You can find heaps of videos on YouTube. Facial gymnastics can effectively prevent and soften wrinkles. Many people swear by this technique. The only important thing is that it is done correctly and daily. If you want a beautiful smile, you should definitely give it a try.

What effect do anti-wrinkle creams and chemical peels have on the skin?

Anti-wrinkle creams are supposed to moisturize the sensitive facial skin and thus prevent wrinkles. In a test conducted by “Stiftung Warentest”, none of the products tested were able to conjure away wrinkles. Creams do, however, contain nourishing, skin-friendly ingredients. Anti-wrinkle creams are particularly useful if they contain UV protection. After all, it is a proven fact that we age prematurely due to excessive sun exposure.

Choose a fat-containing cream that is able to retain skin moisture. Some anti-wrinkle creams also contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body. The acid binds water to itself and thus provides a plumping effect.

You can achieve a deeper effect than with mere creams by using high-quality chemical peels. A properly performed chemical peel once a week can prevent wrinkles. Massage it in with gentle movements. For example, fruit acid peeling has proven to be effective. The glycolic acid it contains seeps into the skin layers and stimulates collagen production. As a result, wrinkles gradually fade.

Which home remedies are suitable for making homemade facial care products?

Here are a few suggestions for homemade skin care products for beautiful, firm facial skin:

  • A face mask with avocado – mash the pulp, mix with a little olive oil and apply. Wash off after about ten minutes.
  • Massage coconut oil into the face. Provides long-lasting moisture to the skin cells. Coconut oil also has an antibacterial effect and is therefore used against pimples.
  • Potatoes are rich in antioxidants that counteract skin aging. Simply place a few potato slices on fine lines for ten minutes. Even better, massage your face with a raw potato slice for a few minutes. Afterward, rinse off thoroughly.
  • Lemon-Honey Scrub. Put a small amount of honey on a halved lemon and rub it on your face. Leave on for ten minutes, then rinse off and apply face cream.
  • Ever heard of a facial steam bath? Performed once or twice a week, it’s a swell thing to do. All you need is a bowl of water, boiling water, medicinal herbs (e.g. chamomile flowers, marigolds, lime blossoms, tea tree oil, grapefruit oil) and a towel. Pour over the herbs, wait 10 minutes and then bend over it with the towel over your head. Follow with a greasy cream.

A regular visit to the sauna helps prevent wrinkles and is beneficial for a firm complexion. Support this wonderful organ with occasional peelings or oils. Drink plenty of fluids. Make sure you eat a balanced diet. Give your body enough exercise and plenty of rest. Then you can manage to stay wrinkle-free well into old age.
